Tips On Throwing An Adult Halloween Party
Halloween is a great holiday for people of all ages.
Some of the most interesting Halloween party ideas come
from adult parties. An adult Halloween party is
fantastic because it allows adults to act like children
and dress up in costume. Although you will always have a
few adults who would rather not dress up, making it
clear on your invitation that it is a costume party is
advisable. Use these tips when planning your Halloween
party for extra inspiration.
Although a Halloween party in general is a themed party,
consider making your party even more thematic. Choose a
theme for your party and ask all guests to dress up in
that theme. Serve food that corresponds with the theme
and decorate as such. For example, you can host a “50’s,
60’s, and 70’s” theme Halloween party.
By giving your guests three different periods to choose
costumes from, they should have no problem finding the
perfect look. Plan to play music only from these periods
of time to go with the theme and serve things like
shoestring french fries and bottled Coke. Make sure you
clearly label your adult Halloween invitation if you
choose a theme.
If you want to have a costume party, which is always the
most fun to have during this holiday, make sure you
clearly list it on the invitation. State that no one
will be admitted to the party without being in costume.
This way, you give no choice to guests on whether they
dress up or not. If you do give them a choice, most
adults will find an excuse not to take the time and
effort to dress up in costume. Offering a prize for the
best costume is always a way to get people thinking hard
about their costume. Have everyone vote via secret
ballot for the best costume and give out a dinner gift
certificate to the winner.
Serving interesting foods is always a great idea for a
party. If you can have a normal food table and a “gross
food” table you will be a hit. Have a normal table full
of party foods like chips, dips, and appetizers. Then
have a “gross food” table for those that dare to take
the challenge. Have green punch, spaghetti colored with
brown food coloring, and deviled eggs that look like
eyeballs on your table. This will help with the food as
well as create an interesting decor in the food area.
The grosser looking the food is, the better.
Decorating for your Halloween party does not have to be
difficult. All you need is a bunch of faux spider
webbing, some faux spiders, and dark material. You can
drape the walls with the dark material (garbage bags
also work when ripped at the seams) and then use white
paint to draw ghouls and ghosts on the material.
Next, use the faux webbing everywhere as well as the
faux spiders. Visit your local party or Halloween store
for ideas and merchandise for your party. Most of the
decor will be inexpensive so you can get a great look
for very little money.
A adult Halloween party is a very fun way to get your
friends together for great fun, food, and entertainment.
Forget hiring the live entertainment, looking at each
other dressed up will keep the party rolling. Use these
tips to help you get started and above all, have fun!
